About Us

Knitacious is a small business which specializes in eco-friendly handcrafted items. All of the merchandise is handcrafted by Nancy Moynihan, librarian by degree and artisan/crafter by calling.

Nancy has been crafting since childhood, having experimented with wood, clay, glass and textiles. The business, started in 2008, focussed for many years exclusively on knitting (hence the business name Knitacious), but has expanded to also include items incorporating metal, textiles, beads and buttons. Nancy also designs knitted items, does custom knitting and repairs damaged antique and contemporary knitted items.

With a passion for sustainable practices, natural fibres and detailed hand work, Nancy finds creating one-of-a-kind, handmade goods to be the perfect outlet for her textile oriented aesthetic. Nancy uses up-cycled materials (wool, sweaters, linens, curtains, upholstery slipcovers, vintage fabrics and wire, wood, metal and vintage silverware) to make whimsical and colourful items.

Primarily selling at craft fairs throughout the greater Ottawa area, Knitacious has a product line of textile and decor products, including felted objects, bags, button broaches, button embellished crafts, herb markers, garden stakes and decorative sayings. Nancy is a member of the Ottawa Artisans Guild, the Ottawa Knitting Guild, Ottawa Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild and the Ottawa Valley Button Club.
